Signs of Spring are all around

Wednesday, 22 April 2009 11:08 by Dry Ridge Inn
Signs of spring havse started to show up in abundance.  Baby Wrens begining the life, Tulips, and spring flowers putting on a show.  The rainfall for April has been plentiful, as evidenced by a full to the brim rain barrels. We even had a flock of wild turkeys come through. They were a bit skitish so only two pictures.  So plan your spring trip with Dry Ridge Inn in mind www.dryridgeinn.com

Rain Barrels

Thursday, 16 April 2009 22:12 by Dry Ridge Inn
We have installed another set of rain barrels. Last year we ordered up two 80 gallon rain barrels.  We have been amazed at the amount of water we have been able to collect from the roof.  We soon realized that we could use more capacity.  So, this year we ordered up two more 80 gallon barrels.  We acquired them through a program put together by the Buncombe County Extension Service.  You order through them, at a great price.  The barrels are delivered to the Asheville Farmers Market http://www.ncagr.gov/markets/facilities/markets/asheville/, you just show up with a vehicle large enough the hold your barrels and off you go.  Here are some pictures of the installed barrels.  We now have 320 gallons for watering our gardens and filling our fountain.

Late Winter Snow Fall

Wednesday, 15 April 2009 12:55 by Dry Ridge Inn
We had a late winter snow fall.  It really was quite beautiful.  At times though it had the look of a blizzard.  Here are some pictures around the Inn.  The snow did not last long so I ran out to take some shots.
