Asheville Trolley Tours

December 15 2008 we had a fun day riding  the trolley through Asheville. It was one of those days where we found ourselves having the time to do some hometown exploring. There are two trolley companies operating in Asheville. The Gray Line Tours of Asheville www.graylineasheville.com and Asheville Historic Trolley Tours www.ashevilletrolleytours.com.  They each run a very similar operation with similar routes.  We took the Gray Line Tour.  The best thing about this is the ability to park (for free) at the Asheville Visitor Center, and ride around Asheville.  You can get off and on at the various Trolley stops.  If you start in the morning at 10:30am you can visit almost all of Asheville, stoping to explore the different shopping districts and sites.  The trolleys run every hour April through October.  The colder months have a slightly reduced schedule.  We had a great time at the Grove Park Inn taking in the Gingerbread House exibition. There at the Grove Park Inn is also the fabulous Grovewood Gallery www.grovewood.com .

There is also a very cool Auto Museum http://www.grovewood.com/car_museum.php , this is a hidden gem for car nuts.  So if you wish to do something a bit different, and get to enjoy multiple areas of Asheville without having to move and re-park your car, the Trolleys are a great way to get around, and also add a bit of eco-friendly to you visit.
