Asheville Dining | Asheville Bed and Breakfast

What’s for supper? Something good!

Let us start right here in Weaverville. Our vibrant town offers many options for a fun lunch our an elegant evening meal.  A short walk from our Inn you will find a variety of choices. Jack of Hearts Pub is the newest addition to our main street. Mike’s Main Street Grill is our burger and wings place.  Well Bred Bakery is a delightful place to have a light lunch and enjoy the sweet treats made fresh each day. Blue Mountain Pizza is more than just pizza. It is the quintessential place where the locals eat, with live music each night. Maggie B’s is Weaverville’s first ever wine and specialty food store. A short drive from the Inn is Stoney Knob Cafe "Hip, funky and exotic" are just a few of the ways diners describe Stoney Knob Café.
The hills around Asheville teem with lovingly run organic farms whose fresh, flavorful meats and vegetables have attracted an extremely creative class of chefs to the area.
Often mentioned as one of Southeast’s most innovative cities for food, Asheville draws deeply from its rich soil and green fields to produce the tasty fare that sustains its tailgate markets and inspires its cooking class (as well as those who appreciate the results!).

flatironRecognition abounds for the city’s restaurant scene. Livability.com has ranked Asheville one of its 10 “most surprisingly vibrant food cities.” HuffingtonPost.com has placed it among its “Top 10 Undiscovered Local Food Cities.” The travel blog Gadling.com has called the city one of the best cities in the world for drinking beer. And in a nationwide online poll in May 2011, the city was awarded - for the third year running – the title of “Beer City USA.”

Fodors.com names Asheville as one of the "21 Places We're Going in 2011" because of how varied and accomplished the city’s restaurants are. Within a few blocks of downtown Asheville, diners can choose among a variety of ethnic cuisines.

City residents argue over which is the best Italian restaurant in the city, with Vincenzo’s Ristorante & Bistro, Cucina24 and Fiores Ristorante Toscana all getting top votes downtown. Just south of Asheville, in Biltmore Village, Chef Reza highlights his eastern Mediterranean heritage and travels through Italy at his restaurant and wine bar Rezaz Restaurant and Enotecca. In West Asheville, try Nona Mia Italian Kitchen on Patton Avenue or Pizzeria Ritrovo on Haywood Road.

Heiwa Shukudo, a Japanese family-owned restaurant, hand-rolls dozens of kinds of sushi and serves up steaming bowls of noodles. Not far away, Wasabi has consistently been voted the best Japanese restaurant in Asheville. PHO Fusion Vietnamese Restaurant gets a lot of word of mouth for its fresh ingredients and imaginative results.

Next door to each other on North Lexington Avenue in downtown are the acclaimed Indian restaurant Mela (ahh, the exotic smells!) and the new Tex-Mex restaurant, Boca Restaurant, with its pleasing outdoor patio. Kathmandu Café downtown grinds its own spices. Tupelo Honey Café and Early Girl Eatery, also downtown, get high marks for their contemporary take on traditional Southern cooking.

Speaking of Southern, Asheville is fortunate to have several good barbeque houses. In the River Arts District, there’s the acclaimed 12 Bones Smokehouse (so popular that President Obama returned on his second trip to Asheville!). ED Boudreaux’s Bayou Bar-B-Que downtown serves 14 in-houses sauces with its pork, beef, chicken and ribs. Luella’s Barbeque’s delicious sides are all made from scratch.

Vegetarians will find endless choices in nearly all Asheville restaurants, but they’ll be especially pleased with the international menu at Laughing Seed Café on Asheville’s funky Wall Street. Green Light Café next to the nightspot Bobo Gallery serves vegetarian dishes into late night, and Chai Pani, which specializes in Indian street food, accommodates vegan diets deliciously.

Care for tapas and wine? Try Zambra. Thinking Caribbean? Consider Salsa’s. Want Thai? Try Thai Basil in the Grove Arcade (the downtown arcade is full of restaurants, such as Chorizo, Modesto and Carmel’s Restaurant & Bar). For a glass of wine or champagne at the arcade, drop into Santé Wine Bar or Battery Park Book Exchange.

On Monday nights in March through June, chefs square off in Asheville during the WNC Chef’s Challenge, the city’s hottest culinary competition that offers up each night’s results to lucky diners. Two teams go at it each night, working with a secret ingredient in each of three courses. The diners, who try all six dishes, score the results, and winners go on to the next round. The top two teams face off in the finale at the Asheville Wine & Food Festival in August.
